Salinity describes soluble salts. Electrical conductivity (EC) helps estimate their concentration, but interpretation depends on the extraction method, units and crop sensitivity. Do not compare results from different methods without advice.
Sodicity relates to exchangeable sodium in soil and can affect soil structure and infiltration. EC alone cannot diagnose it. A laboratory can assess exchangeable sodium percentage and other relevant indicators; sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) helps assess water-related risk.
Before taking action, test soil and irrigation water and assess drainage. Leaching salts requires suitable water and effective drainage; adding calcium alone does not solve every salinity problem. Measures must match the diagnosis and field conditions.
General information. Product and dose selection requires crop diagnosis and documentation for the specific formulation.
